An eyelid lift, also known as Blepharoplasty, is a procedure to treat drooping and sagging eye lids (both upper and lower). Through this procedure, excess skin is removed and a tighter look achieved. It is performed for aesthetic purposes as well as vision problems since drooping skin from the upper eye lid can cause vision problems too.
In this procedure the soft tissue of the area around the brows and forehead is lifted. It results in rejuvenation of the forehead, giving it a tighter and younger look. It also reduces wrinkles and changes the overall look of the forehead.
Usually one treatment is enough to get the desired results. In some cases, if the individual is not satisfied with the final look, they may ask for a follow up treatment. Keeping in view the healing from previous procedure and other influencing factors we will decide if it is advisable to get a second one.
The results from the procedure can last decades. They do not reverse. However, they are not immune to the effects of ageing. As you age, it is possible that some drooping or sagging might happen.
The recovery period after this surgery, is not too long. Usually bandages and any sutures will be removed in 7 to 10 days. You might feel some discomfort for a few days immediately following the procedure but it will subside shortly.
Scarring is a possibility. With brow lift you will most likely have very light scars but the eyelid lift is becoming more and more sophisticated by the day and the chances of scarring is minimal now. However, if your skin bruises easily and is sensitive, you should let your doctor know beforehand.
These procedures are performed on an outpatient basis. General anesthesia is usually administered, so the patient is rendered unconscious to make the process comfortable. Whether you are getting an eyelid lift or a brow lift, the surgeon will make marks to identify excess skin that needs to be removed. Then an incision will be made and the excess removed followed by suturing of the skin.
We will need you to visit our establishment for a consultation before we can tell you how much your procedure will cost. This is because we personalize the treatment for each patient according to their needs./p>
After the procedure, the treated area will be bandaged and there might be a tube attached to help with draining any fluids. Recovery is fast and usually the patient is comfortable and the swelling and bruising has improved tremendously in 10 days. At this point then the individual can resume their regular activities and go out in public comfortably.
