What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery. When it is done for eye bag removal it is performed on the lower lid. Lower lid blepharoplasty can get rid of puffiness under the eyes that often appears with age. It can also smooth out wrinkles and sagging skin.

How does it work?

This treatment gets rid of eye bags by removing excess skin and fat. To do this, small incisions are made in the under eye area, the excess is removed and small sutures are administered to close it up again.

This treatment then gives the eye area a tighter and smoother feel. It makes the face look more youthful and awake.

In most cases, yes one surgery is enough. However, if the individual isn’t satisfied, they may ask for another treatment to get more prominent results. There will be a gap between the two surgeries however to allow for healing and strengthening.

You will experience mild discomfort for a couple of days. It will subside eventually and you can take pain medication to make the few days comfortable for yourself.

No, you will not need to stay at the hospital following this surgery. It is an outpatient procedure, unless you are having something else done alongside it. Evens so you might be allowed to go home, but that can only be said for sure once we have discussed your case.

The only main side effect of this procedure is the chance of the wound getting infected. With appropriate aftercare this should not be a problem. You will be asked to come in for regular follow ups to make sure there is no infection forming and to treat it immediately if it is.
